Product Details

This beautiful and simple catechism is inspired by the now out-of-print Illustrated Catechism for Little Children. It utilizes the traditional question and answer formula for teaching. The questions are drawn from the Our Holy Faith Series, books 1, 2, and 4, and are divided into 11 topics. Each topic is accompanied by a beautiful, full-color image of a great work of religious art or old fashioned children's' book illustration. The topics include: God, the Trinity, Holy Angels, Man, Our Lord, Sin, Baptism & Confirmation, Penance, a Good Confession, and the Holy Eucharist. In addition, the book includes thirteen beginning prayers for memorization.

The catechism is intended for children from 2 to 7 years of age. It is a simple, beautiful tool for taking the first steps of catechesis.

This book is required for the Schola Rosa Co-op & Home Curriculum preschool program.

"I purchased Alpha Year last summer for my first grader, and we have so thoroughly enjoyed the program. My 2 and a half year old son even loves it!  He loves to recite the poetry and the history. What really astonished me, however, was his ability to apply the information he learned from the songs. I was talking to my husband about our history lesson, and I mentioned 'the king of Persia' and he shouted, 'that's King Cyrus!' " Camille in California
