The Swiss Family Robinson was originally written in German by Johann Rudolf Wyss (1781-1830). This edition was prepared by a teacher who had many years of experience with young children and who was skilled in the art of telling stories. The original text was carefully revised. All the best editions published in the English language were consulted. The publishers of this edition felt confident that in its present form the story would more deeply appeal to the young people of that time than any other edition on the market. It was especially adapted for the purpose of supplementary reading in the schools.

This edition is being provided by Oxrose Press for use in the Schola Rosa Curriculum since it is no longer available in print and is a public domain book. For use in Cycle 3.
